SafeMoon ‘burn’ bug abused to drain $8.9 million from liquidity pool
A hacker exploited a newly created function in the SafeMoon token liquidity pool, causing a loss of $8.9 million. The exploit allowed the hacker to artificially inflate the price of SafeMoon tokens and then quickly sell them. SafeMoon has since patched the vulnerability, and their CEO stated that other LP pools and upcoming upgrades were not affected. Blockchain security experts PeckShield identified the flaw as a mistakenly set public function.
