Russia’s Rostec allegedly can de-anonymize Telegram users
Rostec, a state-owned tech and defense systems corporation, has reportedly purchased a platform that can identify anonymous Telegram users. This is likely to be used in efforts to limit unfavourable news coming out of Russia. Reports from Russian media the Bell and Medusa suggest that the tool - called “Okhotnik” - uses over 700 data points to create correlations that can lead to the unmasking of anonymous users. This includes information from social networks, darknet and government services.
